NOMADIC SPIRITS Visual for Paweł Zalejski (violin) and Ariel Barnes (cello) 2022

„There is some mysterious force that drives us forward, towards new challenges and new experiences. It pushes us to step out of our familiar boundaries from time to time. Just as nomadic peoples are constantly on the move, exploring different environments. This is why violinist Paweł Zalejski and cellist Ariel Barnes have called this force that still lives within us today the 'nomadic spirit'.

Detailed description

„There is some mysterious force that drives us forward, towards new challenges and new experiences. It pushes us to step out of our familiar boundaries from time to time. Just as nomadic peoples are constantly on the move, exploring different environments. This is why violinist Paweł Zalejski and cellist Ariel Barnes have called this force that still lives within us today the 'nomadic spirit'.

In the Nomadic Spirits concert, the two musicians, together with media artist Andrea Sztojánovits, celebrate the fruitful encounter between different cultures, nationalities and artistic disciplines. The event is the idea of Paweł Zalejski, first violinist of the world's leading Apollon Musagète quartet and a versatile chamber musician who is also a renowned figure on the international classical music scene. Ariel Barnes is also constantly on the move with concert invitations from all over the world, and he pushes his own artistic boundaries by playing everything from baroque to modern pieces, and commissioning new cello works from a number of contemporary composers. After a lifelong connection with music through her piano studies, Andrea Sztojánovits began to work with sound-based images, animations and installations. Through a work for violin and cello by Arthur Honegger, the little-known Erwin Schulhoff and Zoltán Kodály, as well as through visual means, the three artists will invite the audience to explore their own inner nomadic spirit."
